The school will cover:

Project Overview

The position is funded by the research project:

“Fairness and Social Well-Being in Optimisation Models”

The project focuses on incorporating ethical considerations into mathematical optimization models, particularly in:

  • Public budget allocation
  • Labour organization and service industry optimization

Two main research lines:

  1. Fairness in public resource allocation
  2. Workers’ well-being in service optimization models

The researcher will join the Statistics, Probability and Machine Learning research group at UPF.
Principal Investigator: Alberto Santini, Associate Professor of Operational Research.


Requirements

Applicants should hold a PhD in:

  • Operational Research
  • Computer Science
  • Mathematics
  • Computer Engineering
  • Economics
  • Or a closely related field

Strong candidates will have expertise in at least one of:

  • Rostering and scheduling
  • Column generation and exact methods
  • Multi-objective optimization
  • Bi-level programming
  • Stackelberg games

What We Offer

  • 12-month research contract
  • Minimum salary: approximately €31,200 per year
  • No teaching or administrative duties (teaching possible upon request, paid separately)
